Talking Torah Troubleshooting Tips

Question: I see the words, but I can't hear the Hebrew.

Answer 1: Does the audio slide bar appear above the word "Read" on your screen? If not, you need to install the Quicktime plugin for your browser.
Apple Computer provides Quicktime as a free download for Macintosh and Windows computers running either Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or America Online.

Answer 2: Talking Torah Flashcards were designed for use on Netscape 6 using a Apple Macintosh computer. They have been been tested on a variety of Macintosh and Windows computers using the most recent browsers of Microsoft Internet Explorer and America Online. If you are using another browser or an older version of one of these you may need to download and install a new update.

Answer 3: Does you computer have a sound card? All Macintosh computers and most Wintel (IBM compatible) computers come with sound capabilities built-in. If you computer doesn't play music or make sounds anywhere else, it won't read Hebrew here. If you have a sound card, check your volume.

Question: The Hebrew word speaks automatically. Can't it wait until I have a chance to figure it out?

Answer: Quicktime comes with an "autoplay" option which comes automatically set for "On".
Click the small triangle at the right end of the slide bar above the word "Read".
Choose "Plug-in Settings" and click off the autoplay setting.

Question: Why does the screen freeze up sometimes? I press the Next button but nothing happened.

Answer: The most common reason for screen freezes is impatience. These flashcards run smoothly on an ISDN, Cable, or 56K connection.
Slower modems or download rates will effect performance. Wait until the entire card has downloaded until trying to move on.
If you do get stuck just hit the Reload button on your browser.

Question: Why do the cool graphics "freeze frame" when I click on the translation button?

Answer: That is a "feature" of some browsers. The links will still work and you can get some cool effects depending on when you click!
If you get stuck, hit the Reload button on your browser.
